Tiffany Kornegay was one of five Jumbos who scored in double digits

BEVERLY -- All five Tufts University starters finished in double-figures as the Jumbos topped previously unbeaten Endicott, 75-64, in non-conference women's basketball action on Tuesday evening. Tufts' Julia Baily (Farmington, CT) finished the night with 20 points and 15 rebounds for her third-straight double-double.

Endicott opened the game with back-to-back layups by Ashley Vitale (Wilmington, MA) and Ceciley Chisholm (Lexington, MA) to jump out to a 4-0 lead. Tufts, however, responded by rattling off a 20-6 run that included seven points by junior guard Vanessa Miller (Cincinnati, OH). The visitors would push their lead to as many as 23 points in the opening half, cruising into the intermission with a 36-17 advantage.

It took Endicott just six minutes in the second half to accumulate its entire first half scoring, as the Gulls chipped the Tufts' lead down to nine with a 13-0 run. The lead would stay at nine until the 12:32 mark, and that's when the Jumbos began to heat up from behind the arc. Junior Colleen Hart (Needham, MA) knocked down a three-ball, followed a Tiffany Kornegay (Carver, MA) trey to put the guests up 15. Tufts then struck again as Hart dialed in from deep followed by a three-pointer from Miller, blowing the game wide open at 59-40.

Trailing by 17 with five minutes remaining, Endicott hung around for the remainder of the contest as Ceciley Chisholm scored five points in a 1:30 span, cutting the lead to 12. A three-ball by Kaylin Burke (Leominster, MA) made it a nine point game before Miller put the game out of reach with consecutive late free throws.

Kornegay also notched a double-double for Tufts with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Kate Barnosky (Huntington Station, NY) had 14 points and seven rebounds, while Miller notched 12 points.

Endicott's Chisholm finished with a game-high 23 points, 21 of which came in the second half. Vitale had 14 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Junior Ashley Wright (Merrimack, NH) scored 15 points and added two steals. The Gulls, who shot 50 percent on the night, were an impressive 22 of 30 from the field in the second half (73.3 percent).

Tufts (2-1) returns to action on Sunday as the Jumbos take on the Judges of Brandeis University at 1:00 pm. Endicott looks to rebound on December 2nd when the Gulls play the final game of their four-game home stand against Suffolk University at 7:00 pm.
