NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- Senior Julia Baily (Farmington, CT) had her second double-double in as many days with 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Tufts University women's basketball team to a 68-60 victory against York College in the consolation game of the Rino's Pizza Tip-Off Classic hosted by SUNY New Paltz on Saturday afternoon.

The Jumbos opened up a 37-19 halftime lead and led big for most of the second half until York cut the margin into single-digits late in the game. The Jumbos improved to 1-1 overall, while the Lady Cardinals fell to 2-2.

Tufts trailed 9-2 early following a jumper by York's Kadisha Wickham with 16:14 to play in the first half. However, the Jumbos initiated an 11-0 run that included four points by Baily and a three-pointer from junior Colleen Hart (Needham, MA). Tufts led 13-9 and they would never trail again.

The lead was 18 points at intermission, as the Jumbos defended well by holding the Lady Cardinals to 26.7 percent (8/30) shooting in the first half. Tufts also won the battle of the boards 24-17 in the first 20 minutes. Baily, who had 21 points and 10 rebounds in the team's first-round loss to host New Paltz on Friday, scored 14 points with seven rebounds in the first half. Maimouna Dabo led York with seven points at halftime.

The margin ballooned to as many as 23 points for Tufts at 53-30 after a three-pointer by junior Lindsay Weiner (Rockville, MD) with 14:21 remaining in the second half. The Jumbos were up by 17 (67-50) after a three by Hart with 3:26 on the clock. York out-scored Tufts 8-1 over the remainder of the game, including four points by Wickham. However, the Tufts lead was safe and the first victory of 2009-10 was sealed.

Tufts finished at a solid 45 percent shooting (27/60) for the game, including six for 14 on threes. Hart scored 15 points, while sophomore Kate Barnosky (Huntington Station, NY) added nine. Sophomore Tiffany Kornegay (Carver, MA) and Weiner both had seven points. Guards Kornegay and Vanessa Miller (Cincinnati, OH) combined for 11 rebounds. Hart, who had a 31-point night against New Paltz and averaged 23 points for the weekend, was named to the All-Tournament team.

Dabo netted a game-high 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds for York. Wickham tallied 12 points and led the Lady Cardinals with nine rebounds.
