WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Tufts University men's cross country team was fourth among New England schools and eighth overall at Saturday's Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship race hosted by Williams College.

The Jumbos, running their second seven as usual at this race, scored 231 points. Host Williams won the title with 31 points. Amherst and Wesleyan were the only other New Englanders to score better than Tufts. Vassar's Colin Sanders won the race in 26 minutes, 6 seconds.

Freshman Ryan Lena (Orono, ME) was the lead Jumbo in 30th place individually, finishing the eight-kilometer race in 27:19. He was followed in 35th place by junior Anyenda Inyagwa (Boston, MA) with a time of 27:26.

The Jumbos then had three finishers bunched together within 10 seconds. Senior Peter Goransson (Eliot, ME) and sophomore Dave Tilton (Newmarket, NH) crossed the finish line 52nd and 53rd with 27:48 and 27:50 times, respectively. Freshman Ben Silver (Buffalo Grove, IL) was the final Tufts scorer in 61st place (27:58).

The Jumbos will look to extend their season by qualifying for the NCAA championship race again at the New England Regional Championship next Saturday at Springfield College.
