BOSTON -- The Tufts University men's cross country team's 19th place
finish at the 2006 Open New England Cross Country Championship on
Saturday featured the return to the line-up of senior All-American
Josh Kennedy (Guilford, CT).
After missing the first month of the season, Kennedy helped Tufts
score 487 points at the meet featuring 45 teams from New England's
Division I, II and III. The co-captain finished 89th overall with a
time of 25 minutes, 56 seconds. Senior Justin Chung (Manchester,
CT) earned a spot as one of the 30 best in the region with his
time of 25:23 for 29th place to lead the Jumbos.
Freshman Nick Welch (Seattle, WA), racing in his first
championship event, was third for Tufts and 115th overall in 26:08.
Rounding out the Tufts scoring was junior Dave Sorensen (Dover,
MA) in 130th place with a time of 26:15 and freshman Jesse
Faller (Burlington, MA) in 136th place (26:22).
Division II UMass Lowell won the championship with a dominating 76
points, placing all of their scorers in the top 30. UConn's Max
Feldman won the individual title with a time of 24:17.
