GRAFTON -- Host Tufts University placed runners in positions four through seven, but the Jumbos fell one point shy of victory at the Hayseed Classic on Saturday. Bentley College won the race with 33 points, followed by Tufts with 34 points. The rest of the field was way behind, with third-place Wheaton College accumulating 108 points.
All-American Nate Brigham led the four straight Tufts finishers in the top 10 with a time of 26 minutes, 39.88 seconds for fourth place. Sophomore Neil Orfield was less than seven seconds behind with a 26:46.40 for fifth place. Freshman Josh Kennedy was sixth in his collegiate debut, clocking in at 26:51.82, and sophomore Matt Lacey was on his tail in seventh with a 26:56.49 time. Rounding out the scoring for Tufts was sophomore Mike Don in 12th place (27:45.36).
Bentley's Ryan Agnew won the race with a time of 25:56.36. The race champion Falcons also had Mike Killam in third place at 26:32.65. Wheaton's Stan Pyle was second with a 26:25.01 time.
