WESTFIELD -- The Tufts Men's Cross Country team competed in the seventh annual James Early Invitational hosted by Westfield State College on Saturday, finishing in first place out of 27 teams. Scoring 72 points, the Jumbos finished ahead of MIT, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Trinity College, and Colby College, which were the top five teams.
Sophomore Nate Brigham (Penacook, NH) finished first for Tufts clocking in at 25:29.90 to place sixth overall out of a group of about 300 runners. Junior Peter Bromka (Portland, OR) crossed the line at 25:46.00 for an 11th place finish, while freshman Matt Lacey (Amherst, MA) finished two places behind Bromka in 25:57.20. Junior Ian Joseph (Lexington, MA) in 26:09.70 and freshman Neil Orfield (Burnsville, MN) in 26:36.90 rounded out the top five for Tufts, capturing the 17th and 25th places, respectively.

Jumbos are off this coming weekend. The team's next meet is the NESCAC
Championship on November 2 at their home course in Grafton, Mass.
