Morrie Bossen lost just one game in singles
and doubles play

BABSON PARK -- In a rain-delayed make-up match, Babson hosted the
Tufts University men's tennis team at the Boston Sports Club in
Wellesley. The Jumbos controlled the match and won easily, 8-1.
With only one singles starter and half the doubles starters, the
Jumbos could have been pressed by a feisty Babson team. However, the
Jumbos took charge early as senior Andrew Rosen (Armonk, NY)
and sophomore Morrie Bossen (Chicago, IL) paired up for the
first time to win at love with strong volleying and consistency. At
#1 doubles, the freshmen duo of Andrew Lutz (Baltimore, MD)
and Ben Barad (San Rafael, CA) paired up and fell behind a
break early. But after trailing 3-2, they reeled off six games in a
row to capture the match. Freshmen Andrew McHugh (Edgartown, MA)
and Jon Lam (Huntingdon Valley, PA) were up early, but
then fell behind down a break at 6-5. However, with steady returns
they broke back and Lam's returns in the final game proved to be the
difference.
In singles, Bossen led the way with a 6-0, 6-1 win moving up to
#4 singles. Including his doubles, he only dropped one game all
evening. In his first collegiate match, freshman #5 Neal
Jawadekar (East Lyme, CT) held on to a straight-set win. At #6
also in his first match, Jeff Taylor (Framingham, MA) wasn't
too lucky as he ran into a hard-hitting opponent in Taylor Dutton.
The Jumbos play at Division I Harvard next Friday to close out
the fall season.
