TUFTS HOCKEY TEAM TO TAKE EUROPEAN TOUR TO FRANCE
AND SWITZERLAND
MEDFORD -- The Tufts University hockey team will
depart on Christmas Day for an eight-day European Tour that will
feature four games against teams from Elite level Swiss/France
Hockey Leagues.
After departing Boston on Christmas night, the
Jumbos will connect flights from Charles de Gaulle International
Airport in Paris to Geneva, Switzerland on Wednesday morning (Dec.
26). They will then bus to Albertville, France, where that night
they will practice at Albertville Ice Center, home of the 1992
Olympics.
The Jumbos then play a busy game schedule. On
Thursday (Dec. 27) they will play their first game of the tour at
Meribel. On Friday, the Jumbos take on St. Gervais, Saturday's game
is against Annecy and Sunday's finale is at Chamonix. All four games
are preceded by sightseeing tours of the areas during the day. The
team will spend New Year's Eve in Geneva and fly home on New Year's
Day.
Tufts finished its first semester of action on
December 8 with a solid 5-3 victory over Connecticut College. They
currently sit fifth in the NESCAC standings with an even 2-2-1
record. Coach Brian Murphy's team is 3-3-1 overall.
"We're excited," Murphy said. "It's a great
opportunity for the program. It'll be fun, but also it'll keep us
sharp for when the season resumes in January."
Three days after returning home, Tufts will play at
the Cardinal Classic hosted by Plattsburgh State University on
Friday night, January 4.
