ANDERSON PARTICIPATES AT BOSTON COLLEGE'S NFL PRO DAY SHOWCASE

MEDFORD -- Kevin Anderson (Hopkinton, MA), a three-time All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) First Team fullback for the Tufts University football team, worked out for National Football League (NFL) teams on Thursday at Boston College's NFL Pro Day showcase.

Anderson was one of only a few Division III players from the area who participated. The group of athletes working out consisted mostly of Boston College players, with others from Division I teams such as UMass, Harvard and Yale. Approximately 20 NFL teams were represented at the event. Tufts offensive coordinator Jay Civetti, who helped coordinate Anderson's appearance, accompanied him.

All of the college players went through a series of general athletic tests, including the three-cone drill, the 40-yard dash, bench press and vertical jump. He also took the famous Wonderlic Test, a twelve-minute, fifty-question intelligence test used by the NFL and other potential employers to assess the aptitude of an individual.

Positional drills, which for Anderson included catching the ball out of the backfield and blocking at the point of attack, were also conducted. The back-up long snapper at Tufts, Anderson also performed that skill for the NFL scouts.

Anderson trained in preparation for the Pro Day with Walter Norton, the strength and conditioning coach of the Boston Celtics, and founder of the Institute of Performance and Fitness, a performance training company. A 6'2", 255-pound fullback, Anderson earned an invitation to the BC Pro Day with his ferocious and productive play at fullback throughout his four-year Tufts career. He is also a two-year captain of the Jumbos.

Anderson now hopes to get invited to an NFL camp this summer as a fullback/long snapper.

Anderson's participation at the BC Pro Day was covered by Metro International's Boston edition:
