McGRAW
ON VERIZON NORTHEAST REGION
ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
MEDFORD--
Tufts University senior running back Chuck
McGraw (Wadena, MN/ Wadena-Deer Creek) was named to the 2002 Verizon Academic District 1 (Northeast region) College Division
Football Team on November 14. With a grade point average over 3.7 while studying
biology and pre-med, McGraw idealizes the balance between academics and
athletics that Tufts University strives to accomplish.
McGraw
led the 2002 Tufts Football team in rushing this season. He tallied 541 total
yards and scored two touchdowns. One score came during the Jumbos' 24-0 victory
against Bates on September 28 and the other was in a 44-13 win over Bowdoin on
October 5. He also had 13 receptions for 75 yards, averaging 5.8 per catch.
McGraw rushed for over 100 yards in both games, with 106 yards against
Bates and 145 yards against Bowdoin.
For
his career at Tufts, McGraw finished with a total of 1,187 yards rushing, and
had 35 receptions for 254 yards. McGraw has also scored eight touchdowns (seven
rushing, one receiving) for the Jumbos during his four years.
McGraw
has been named to the Dean's List in all of his six semesters at Tufts, and he
is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars as well as the Golden
Key Honor Society. He participates in the Tufts Community Outreach Group and
Tufts Literacy Corps. McGraw will attend medical school after graduation in May.
The
Jumbos had a disappointing season this year, ending with a 3-5 record in the New
England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). After starting with three
straight wins, the Jumbos lost the next five, including by one point at Trinity
and in overtime at Amherst.
McGraw
is the second Jumbo to earn the Verizon team recognition. Men's Soccer senior
co-captain Matt MacGregor (Little Compton, RI/Middletown) was selected in
his sport earlier this fall.
