Freshman Matt Rand placed second for Tufts

BOSTON -- Senior Jesse Faller (Burlington, MA) produced
his second straight top 20 finish at the New England Intercollegiate
Amateur Athletic Association Cross Country Championship on Saturday
at Franklin Park in Boston.
Sixth last year, Faller ran 19th this season with a 25:14 time.
That led Tufts, which placed 20th as a team out of 47 overall. The
Tufts points total was 520.
The race, which includes Division I, II and III schools, featured 320 individual
participants. UMass Lowell won the team competition with a score of
93, while American International College's Glarius Rop won the
individual title with a 24:22 time.
Freshman Matt Rand (Cape Elizabeth, ME) was the second
Tufts finisher and was 103rd overall with a 26:14 time. He was
closely trailed by teammates Jeff Ragazzini (Wilton, CT) in
107th place (26:16) and Ryan Lena (Orono, ME) in 110th place
(26:17). Also scoring for Tufts was freshman Kyle Marks (Carmel,
IN), who ran 26:53 for 181st place.
The Jumbos run at Williams College's annual Plansky Invitational
next Saturday.
