ANNAPOLIS, MD -- The Tufts University co-ed sailing team sent four teams of sailors to the 2009 Navy Fall Inter-sectional over the weekend and placed 12th out of 20 teams. With 20 races in four divisions, the Jumbos finished with a 906 total score.

The best showing by Tufts was in the D division, where freshman skipper Albert Nichols (Portland, ME) and junior crew Catherine Swanson (Charleston, SC) were 12th with finishes totaling up to 204. Their top performances were a third-place in the 11th race on Saturday and a second place in the first race on Sunday (13th race overall).

Freshman Will Hutchings sailing single-handed in the C division placed 13th with a 237 score. He had two third-place races, in the 10th overall race on Saturday and in the final race of the regatta on Sunday.

The A division dingy with senior skipper Tomas Hornos (Swampscott, MA) and senior crew Rachael Brill (Scottsdale, AZ) had three fourths among their 20 races and placed 14th with a 234 score.

Sophomore skipper Massimo Soriano (New York, NY) and sophomore crew Adam Weisman (Chicago, IL) scored 231 points for 15th place in B division. The opened Sunday with a second place finish in the 13th race overall.

Roger Williams University won the regatta with a 112 total score.
