FOUR SAILORS NAMED TO ICSA ALL-AMERICA TEAMS

MEDFORD – The Tufts University Sailing team had four members recognized as Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA)/Ronstan All-Americans after the national championship regattas in Oregon May 26 through June 4.

Women's senior A.J. Crane (Warwick, Bermuda/St. George's, RI) and sophomore Dave Siegal (Dartmouth, MA/Tabor Academy) of the Co-ed team were selected as All-American skippers. Seniors Katie Shuman (Seattle, WA/Garfield) and Kristen Tysell (Richmond, CA/Cate School) were chosen as Crew All-Americans.

Crane skippered boats at both Women's and Co-ed events this season, including at the championship regattas. She won the A Division at the women's championships, and at the Co-ed championships helped the B Division boat to ninth place by sailing the first eight races. She also guided the A Division championship boat at the New England women's championships.

Siegal sailed the A Division Boat at the Co-ed championships, finishing 13th. He was fourth in the A Division at the New England's, where Tufts finished third.

Shuman and Tysell crewed for both the Co-ed and Women's team. At the women's championships, Tysell worked with Crane in the victorious A Division boat. Shuman was in the B Division boat with junior skipper Lindsay Shanholt (East Hampton, NY/The Hotchkiss School). Shuman then crewed 10 races with Siegal at the Co-ed nationals, while Tyless again joined Crane for races 1-8 in the B Division.
