SPRINGFIELD -- Senior David Hunt (Boxford, MA) shot a five-over par 77 at the Veterans Golf Course on Thursday to finish in seventh place out of 50 golfters at the Western New England College Invitational. The Jumbos were less successful as a team, shooting 330 strokes to finish eighth out of 10. Tufts was a stroke behind seventh place Springfield (329).

Dan Moll (Newton, MA) continued a solid spring season during his freshman year with an 81 to score second for the Jumbos. Classmate Luke Heffernan (Arlington, MA) was one stroke behind at 82. Moll tied for 18th and Heffernan was part of a large group that finished tied for 21st. Junior Phil Haslett (Singapore) was the fourth and final Jumbo scorer with a 90.

Husson College edged Salem State College 307-309 to win the team title. Adam Duplisea from Husson and Fernando Pineres of Babson College both shot even-par 72 through 18 holes. Duplisea won on the first playoff hole with a birdie to earn individual medalist honors.
