NORTH DARTMOUTH -- The Tufts golf team tied for seventh place at the Hampton Inn Collegiate Invitational hosted by the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth at Allendale Country Club on Sunday. The event was originally scheduled for two days, but Saturday's round was rained out and the tournament was scored on one round Sunday.

The Tufts top four combined to score 329 to tie with Worcester State College. Both teams were five points out of fifth place, where Salem State College carded a four-man 324. The host Corsairs won the 14-team tournament with a 318 score.

Freshman Luke Heffernan (Arlington, MA) was the lead Jumbo on Sunday, shooting eight-over par 80 to tie for 14th place individually out of 67 competitors overall. Classmate Dan Moll (Newton, MA) followed with an 81 to score second for the Jumbos and 22nd overall. Junior Phil Haslet (Singapore) shot 82 and senior Pat Sullivan (Bedford, MA) rounded out Tufts' scoring with an 86.

Neil Daigneault from Elms College was the lone golfer to shoot par, winning the individual medal with a 72.

Tufts plays next at Western New England College's tournament on Thursday (Apr. 17).
