LINDE SELECTED TO 2006 ALL-NESCAC SECOND TEAM

MEDFORD -- Senior Matt Linde (Chappaqua, NY/Chappaqua) of the Tufts University golf team was selected to the 2006 All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Second Team. Linde finished in a tie for 10th overall at the conference championships over the weekend. The team was selected based upon individual finish at the championship.

The conference championship was hosted by Bowdoin College and played at the Brunswick Golf Club on September 30-October 1. Linde shot a 74 on Saturday and was tied for first with Middlebury College's Harrison Bane after Day 1. He shot an 82 on Sunday to finish at 156, 12 over par. Linde finished in a 5-way tie for 10th place with that score, nine shots behind the winner.

This is Linde's second appearance on the All-NESCAC golf team. In 2004 during his sophomore season, his two-round total of 15-over par, 77-80-157, tied for the sixth-best score. His first round total of six-over 77 was tied for fifth on the day and tied for the sixth-best score for 18 holes over the weekend.

Linde, the only Tufts athlete selected to 2006 All-NESCSAC team, joins four other golfers on the Second Team. Nine golfers were named to the First Team. Freshman Reid Longley of Trinity received both the Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year after finishing as the individual medallist. Longley shot a 147 over the weekend, edging Bane by one stroke. Trinity coach Bill Detrick completed the Trinity sweep by winning the Coach of the Year award.

Tufts finished seventh out of the 10 teams at the championship with a two-day total of 637. Middlebury and Trinity finished in a tie for 1st with a score of 618 each. Middlebury won the tiebreaker and was declared the champion based upon each team's fifth-best individual score.
