FOUR JUMBOS FROM WOMEN'S LACROSSE NAMED TO ALL-REGION TEAMS

MEDFORD -- The Tufts University women's lacrosse team, which recently finished a 10-5 season, has four players on the 2008 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Pilgrim Region teams announced on Thursday. This marks the third straight season that Coach Carol Rappoli's team has placed four players on the All-Region squads.

Senior attack Sarah Williams (Bethesda, MD) is the only Jumbo on the All-Region first team. Junior midfielder Chrissie Attura (Yarmouth, ME), first-year attack Amanda Roberts (Wenham, MA) and senior defender Katie Frisina (Wenham, MA) are on the second team. The IWLCA honor is the first for each Jumbo.

Williams was the team's top playmaker with 22 assists and scored 28 goals for a 50-point season. Attura was strong two-way player, scoring 37 points (19 goals) with 34 ground balls, 22 draw controls and 22 caused turnovers in 14 games. Roberts led the Jumbos in scoring with 39 goals and 13 assists for 52 points, and also led the squad with 28 draw controls. Frisina was a leader on defense for Tufts, finishing with 26 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.

The 2008 Jumbos earned their first-ever home-field berth into the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) this season. Tufts was ranked 16th in the final IWLCA national poll on May 5.
