MILLER SURPASSES 100 CAREER POINTS FOR WOMEN'S LACROSSE

MEDFORD – On April 9, Tufts junior Dena Miller (Denver, CO/East) scored four goals and assisted on two others as the Women's Lacrosse team defeated Trinity College 13-11.  Along with being a major contribution to the win, her six-point performance also put her past an important milestone in her college career: 100 total points.

The achievement was made that much sweeter because it occurred in a great game by the Jumbos.  At the time, Trinity was the eighth-ranked team in the nation, and the loss was their first at home on the season.

Jenny Payette's (1979-82) 75-point season in 1981 made her the first player to reach 100 career points for a Tufts team.  Miller is now the 17th Jumbo to accomplish the feat, putting her in exclusive company. She currently has 77 goals and 32 assists for 109 points.

Miller has started every one of Tufts' 38 games since she was a freshman.  She has developed into the program's premier offensive player. As a freshman in 2003 she scored 17 goals and assisted on ten others for 27 points. In 2004 as a sophomore she totaled 34 goals and nine assists for 43 points.  She led the Jumbos in scoring last year and finished with the second-highest total as a freshman. Twelve games into this season, she has scored a team-high 39 points, including 26 goals.

In 2004, the New England Small College Athletic Conference named Miller as Second Team All-Conference. Miller was one of the conference's top ten goal scorers and was tied for 10th in the conference with 3.07 points per game during the season.

If she stays healthy, look for Miller to crack 100 career goals as well.  The 77 she has scored to this point places her 16th on the program's career list.  Her 32 career assists put her at 15th all-time. Currently sitting 16th on the all-time Tufts scoring list, Miller is on pace to break the top ten by the time she graduates in 2006.

Veteran head coach Carol Rappoli's team is currently 7-5 overall and 3-4 in NESCAC. They are looking to lock up a spot in the NESCAC Tournament with their final regular-season games against Amherst on Wednesday and Bates on Saturday.
