GREGORIAN RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE IN SPORT AND CLASS
MEDFORD Senior Jen Gregorian (Wayland, MA/Wayland) finished her lacrosse career at Tufts University in great style. Not only was she selected as an All-American player by two organizations, she was also honored for her achievements in the classroom.
A two-time co-captain of head coach Carol Rappoli's team, Gregorian was named a Third Team All-American by Brine and the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association. US Lacrosse selected her as an Honorable Mention All-American in Division III. On top of that, she was voted onto the Verizon Northeast Region All-Academic second team.
A leading contributor to the team in all four of her seasons at Tufts, Gregorian posted her finest campaign as a senior in 2001. She scored a career-high 53 goals, the most by a Tufts player since all-time leading scorer Rebecca Black netted 54 in 1996. She also added a career-high 21 assists for 74 points, tied for third in the ultra-competitive New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). She led Tufts with 26 goals, 10 assists and 36 points in NESCAC play that included games against undefeated national champion Middlebury College and national runner-up Amherst.
For her career, Gregorian finished with 156 goals and 45 assists for 201 points. Those numbers place her fifth in points and tied for fifth in goals on the team's all-time lists. She is a economics major with a grade point average better than 3.5. In addition to her fine athletic and academic achievements, she is also widely involved in campus groups such as the Media Advisory Board, the Economic Society and the Senior Leadership Corps.
Tufts advanced to the ECAC New England championship game, losing to Williams 9-6. The Jumbos finished 10-7 overall and were fifth in the NESCAC with a 4-5 mark.
