GREGORIAN NAMED NEW ENGLAND REGION ALL-STAR

MEDFORD – Junior Jen Gregorian (Wayland, MA/Wayland) of the Tufts University women's lacrosse team has been named to the 2000 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-New England Region Team.

Gregorian, in her third year as a leading member of the Tufts attack, finished with a career-high 41 goals and six assists to lead the Jumbos with 47 points. She also led head coach Carol Rappoli's team with 17 goals and 19 points in seven New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) games. She scored five goals in a game three times during the spring: versus Babson on April 6, versus Wesleyan on April 29 and in the ECAC Playoffs versus Western New England on May 10.

Gregorian reached 100 career goals with her fifth in the post-season versus WNEC. With 103 goals and 24 assists for 127 points in 44 games during her Tufts career, she is tied for tenth on the team's all-time scoring list. Gregorian netted 37 goals as a freshman and 25 as a sophomore.

In addition to her excellent work on offense, Gregorian is also a team leader and an excellent student. The 2000 Jumbos did not have a senior on the roster this spring, leaving leadership duties to a talented junior class. Gregorian stepped forth, and as a result she was elected co-captain for the 2001 season. An Economics major with a grade point average over 3.5, Gregorian was recently named to the Academic All-NESCAC Team.

"In addition to having her best season at Tufts, Jen brought stability to the attack," Rappoli said. "She was someone we wanted to be on the field at all times. She showed an ability to bring the team to another level with her leadership this spring, and that's going to help when the whole team comes back next year."

Tufts finished 9-6 overall and 4-3 in the competitive NESCAC. They advanced to the semi-finals of the ECAC New England Playoffs, where they lost 12-10 to Connecticut College. Gregorian finished 11th in the league in scoring.

Gregorian was offensive MVP and a Dual County League All-Star at Wayland High School in 1997.
