Amy Wilfert was the runner-up at Connecticut College

WATERFORD, Conn. -- Junior Amy Wilfert (Westborough, MA) ran second at the 2009 Connecticut College Women's Cross Country Invitational on Saturday at Harkness Memorial State Park.

Wilfert, who won her first collegiate race at Trinity two weeks ago, finished in 22:16 to comfortably take second at Connecticut College. Laura Brustolon from Division 2 Southern Connecticut won the race with ease in 21:49.

The Jumbo team placed fifth overall out of 15 entrants in the six-kilometer competition. The Jumbos accumulated a score of 101, while Brandeis University won the team title with 56 points.

Sophomore Bryn Kass (Santa Barbara, CA) and classmate Anya Price (Natick, MA) scored well for the Jumbos. Kass's 23:14 was 12th overall and Price was next in 23:19 for 13th place.

Rounding out the scoring five for Tufts was sophomore Kelsey Picciuto (Cornwall, NY) with a 24:19 finish for 35th place and junior Jennifer Yih (Palo Alto, CA) in 39th place with a 24:26 time. First-year Grace Hafner (Healdsburg, CA) was right behind Yih with a 24:31 time.

Coach Kristen Morwick's Jumbos are idle next week.
