WILFERT ON NESCAC ALL-CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM FOR WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Two-time All-NESCAC honree Amy Wilfert

MEDFORD -- Nearly a conference champion, Tufts University junior Amy Wilfert (Westborough, MA/Westborough) was announced as an All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) First Team member in women's cross country today.

Conference honors are determined by individual finishes at the championship race, which was held this past Sunday at Wickham Park in Manchester, Connecticut. The first seven finishers earn First Team recognition. Wilfert crossed the finish line third overall with a 21:49 time over six kilometers. She was just two seconds behind race champion Sophia Galleher from Amherst College.

Wilfert is now a two-time All-Conference performer. She was on the Second Team last fall after finishing 11th in the 2008 conference championship race.

The Jumbos had a seventh-place performance as a team at the NESCAC race.
