MacGREGOR NAMED TO NSCAA SCHOLAR ALL-AMERICA TEAM
MEDFORD – Senior midfielder Matt MacGregor (Little Compton, RI/Middletown), a tri-captain on the Tufts Men's Soccer team this past fall, has been named to the College Men's Soccer Scholar All-America team for the East region. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) made the announcement last month.
College Men's Soccer Scholar All-America teams are named in four regions. The teams consist of players from Division I, II and III. MacGregor is one of three players from the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) named to the Second Team.
An International Relations/History double-major, MacGregor carried a 3.81 grade point average while playing for Tufts in the fall. He was named to the Verizon Academic All-District College Division team in November and was a member of All-NESCAC Academic team for three straight years (2000-02). A Dean's List student at Tufts in every semester, he is also a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society.
Athletically, MacGregor was named to the All-NESCAC Second Team and the All-New England Third Team in the fall. He was second on the team in scoring with five goals and a team-high five assists for 15 points. Head Coach Ralph Ferrigno's Jumbos finished 9-5-1 overall and 4-41 in NESCAC.
A two-time captain, he is 10th on the team's all-time scoring list with 21 goals and 18 assists for 60 points in 57 career games.
