PRINDIVILLE ON VERIZON NORTHEAST REGION ACADEMIC TEAM

MEDFORD-- Tufts University senior Mike Prindiville (Manchester, CT/Loomis Chaffee) was named to the 2001-2002 Verizon Academic All-District 1 Men's Soccer Team. He is one of 11 players selected from Division II and II teams in the Northeast Region. Honored for his prowess on the field and his dedication in the classroom, Prindiville represented the essence of the student-athlete at Tufts this fall.

Leading the Jumbos as a tri-captain, Prindiville's athleticism on both sides of the field helped Tufts end the season with an 11-4-1 record, 6-3 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). The Jumbos' four losses were the fewest by a Tufts team since 1996.

As the center of the defense Prindiville helped Tufts record a 1.11 goals against average in 1,545 mintes of play. He also exploded this year on offense, tallying the first goal of his career. It was a game-winner against conference rival Colby College on September 22, 2001. Prindiville ended the season with three goals and two assists for a total of eight points. He was named to the NESCAC First Team as well as the All- New England First Team.

Prindiville is a double major in Economics and International Relations. Maintaining a 3.2 GPA he is also active in the Leonard Carmichael Society, a community service organization. He and Drew Weymouth from Bates College are the only New England Small College Athletic Conference players on the Verizon team.

Prindiville attended Loomis Chaffe in Windsor, Connecticut before attending Tufts. During his time here the Jumbos went 41-21-5 as Prindiville started 43 out of 52 games he played. Tufts made three post-season appearances in the ECAC tournament during the last four years. In 1998 the Jumbos lost to Wheaton in the final game, but tides turned in 2000 as Tufts beat Bowdoin 3-1 for the championship. Prindiville ended his career with three goals and six assists for a total of 12 points.
