Asian American House | Pan Asian Council

Linell Yugawa, Director
We are looking forward to having you join us on campus! This brochure contains information about the Center, our Peer Leader Program, and our orientation events. Participating in programs that have an Asian American focus may be a new experience for you. We recognize that the Asian diaspora, both in the U.S. and other parts of the world, reflects a wide range of experiences and backgrounds. We have much to learn and share among ourselves and with the larger Tufts community. Our work contributes positively to the campus community and enriches the experiences of all students.

The Center coordinates educational programs that focus on Asian Americans; offers a resource area (study space with computers, books, periodicals); provides opportunities to explore topics related to Asian America; and informs all students of campus events and opportunities related to the Asian American experience. The Director is available for academic and personal advising and collaborates with other offices, faculty, and alumni to form an active network that ensures student interests and needs are addressed.

We invite you to explore all that Tufts offers. I welcome your questions and concerns. Please e-mail me at linell.yugawa@tufts.edu or call 617-627-3056. See you during Orientation!

Asian American House

Asian American House (Start House), a Small Group Housing Unit under the Office of Residential Life and Learning, offers undergraduates an opportunity to live with others who have a commitment to promoting Asian American issues. Residents are required to coordinate porgrams for the Tufts community that support the experinces of Asians in the U.S. Programs are often co-sponsored with the Asian student organizations, other campus organizations, the Asian American Center, or other Centers and academic departments.

Six students reside in two singles and two doubles on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Any Tufts sophomores, juniors, and seniors interested in learning about and coordinating programs related to the Asian American experience are eligible to apply to live in the House.

Pan Asian Council

The Pan Asian Council (PAC) is a collaborative group of representatives, primarily presidents, of the Asian/Asian American interest and culutre clubs recognized by the Tufts Community Union (TCU) Senate. PAC members meet throughout the year and work to promote unity and collaboration amongst the clubs it represents as well as enhance visibility and awareness of the Asian/Asian American presence on campus. PAC encourages all students to join the Asian/Asian American interest and culture clubs by signing up for membership at the Student Activities Fair or by contacting club officers.

Here you will find more info about PAC groups.
