Asian American Center Open House 2:30 - 4:30 P.M., Start House, 17 Latin Way Done moving in? Come to Start House to meet the Asian American Center Peer Leaders and check out the Center and what it has to offer! ![]() Monday (Labor Day), September 5 George's Island Community Building Outing 7:30-6:00 P.M. This all-day retreat, hosted by Center Peer Leaders, will focus on community building and leadership in the Tufts Asian American community. Get to know others interested in the Asian American community on historic George's Island in Boston Harbor! RSVP with $10 at the Center's Open House on Matriculation Day! RSVP Required! To reserve a spot, please attend the Open House on Wednesday, August 31, 2010 with $10 payment. Spaces available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Your RSVP payment will be refunded if you show up! Otherwise, payment is nonrefundable. Please note that this outing does not conflict with any mandatory orientation programs. Saturday, September 10 Saturday Night Out - Open to All First-Years! 6:00 P.M.- Midnight Join the Center Peer Leaders for a night of fun in Boston! A trolley ride around Boston, a scavenger hunt in the Back Bay, and pizza at Pizzeria Uno's! Tickets are $5 (non-refundable) and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can only purchase a ticket for yourself. Priority to students who did not participate in a pre-orientation program (IO, FIT). Spaces are limited so purchase a ticket at the Center ASAP! Ticket price covers: trolley ride, late night dinner and T fare back to campus! ![]() Monday, September 12 (Raindate: Wednesday, September 14) Asian Community Reception 4:00-6:00 p.m., Start House, 17 Latin Way Meet other first-years, upperclass students, faculty, and administrators at this annual fall event to welcome everyone back on campus. This is a marvelous opportunity to speak with student leaders in the Asian/Asian American community and meet faculty and administrators who could be a resource to you during your first year and beyond. You may even find your next mentor and advisor at this reception! Stop by and have some delicious food from local restaurants! Tuesday, September 13 Asian American House Ice Cream Social 9:00-10:00 p.m., Start House, 17 Latin Way Grab a spoon and chill out after the first day of classes with the House residents! Share your thoughts on faculty and courses and ask the House residents any questions you have about Tufts. Sponsored by Asian American House, Asian American Center, and Office of Residential Life and Learning Friday, September 17 Discover Asian America! Open to All First-Years! 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Start House, 17 Latin Way Did you know that Tufts' Boston Campus is located in Chinatown? What is the significance of Chinatown to you and to Tufts? Come and learn about the current realities, challenges, and issues facing this community; why it's important for Tufts students to engage with this urban neighborhood; and what courses and volunteer opportunities are available to you. Annual Wrentham Shopping Outlets Trip Date: TBA Location: TBA Each year, the Peer Leaders organize a group shopping trip to the nearby Wrentham Shopping Outlets.
