Marie
Sayegh Shack is the Art Liaison for the Wilmington Public Schools.
At Wilmington High School Marie teaches fundamental art, portfolio
and advanced placement classes. Marie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree
from the College of New Rochelle with a major in visual art and minors
in English and philosophy. She received her Masters in Education degree
from Massachusetts College of Art, and was given the Outstanding Educational
Graduate Award upon her completion of a Certificate of Advanced Graduate
Study from Fitchburg State College. Marie's teaching career has mainly
been focused on the high school level, although she has also taught
elementary and middle school students in public and private institutions.
Her educational philosophy includes the belief that students should
explore art materials and processes while working in support of one
another in an art studio setting. Continually involved in the life
of Wilmington High School, Marie has been the class advisor to various
classes there and has been the Art Educator for Wilmington's decathlon
team. Extending her professional commitments, Marie has served as
the secretary, and is soon to be Vice President elect, for the Massachusetts
Directors of Art Education organization. With a strong interest in
curriculum development, Marie recently directed a review of the Wilmington
art curriculum and directed the writing of current curriculum that
reflect the National Standards and the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
for teaching and learning in visual art. Using pastels, watercolor,
and handmade papers
Marie's current artwork reflects natural themes and landscapes. |
