A word from Esther: "I loved participating in this project. It was a great experience for me that I will never be able to forget. I learned a lot of things that I didn't know prior to this project. I got to hear about the experiences of immigrants: their voyage to the United States, their experiences once they were here, their opinions on how different life is here compared to that of their native country, their opinions on the difference of experiences for the different genders, etc,. I had a lot of fun and got to make friends with the Tufts University students I was paired up with. It felt good being of help to them but they were also of help to me because now more than ever I am proud of my Hispanic heritage and the influence it has on my everyday life. This experience with this project has made me more aware of the influence that Hispanic immigration and immigrants has on the city of Somerville and the citizens of Somerville." |
