Organized Sites of Community-Building: An Overview

My investigations identified four main organized sites for community-building. As identified by my AHORA students, Church and Sport related activities constitute two of these sites. In addition, The Welcome Project in the Mystic Activity Center at 530 Mystic Ave organizes community-building opportunities, and PROESA, a membership program recently launched out of Cambridge based Centro Presente, additionally provides opportunities for Latinos to volunteer their time and give financial support to improve their communities. To be discussed in relation to these four organized centers for community-building, Latinos engage in many individually initiated acts to strengthen their communities in Somerville.
