Findings:

1) There is a great demand for English classes that is not being met

2) Students have an enormous amount of appreciation for the existing programs and organizations

3) Learning English has a significant effect on people's jobs, social lives, and families.

The Welcome Project

Limitations:

1) There was simply not enough time to conduct as much research as we would have liked, and while the insights of those we interviewed were extremely helpful, a great deal of research in this field remains.

2) Background knowledge is essential to understanding any immigrant community, and while we were somewhat informed in our investigations, further reading and development of base-knowledge would positively influence our ability to understand the Latino communities expereinces learning English.

3) While both Yesenia and Sidia are completely bilingual, my Spanish-speaking skills allowed interaction, but limited my ability to delve further into the responses of the various narrators. As seen throughout this project, language barriers change human interaction completely.
