Welcome! Those brave, adventure-seeking individuals have come to the right place. If you’d like to perform as part of a Tufts student marching band HONK! Festival, please heed the following information:
There are two different kinds workshops being held between October 4th and October 9th: a movement workshop (possibly two) to form a dancing line for the marching band, and instrumental workshops to form the musical counterpart of the marching band.

So as to be sufficiently prepared, we ask that you sign up for at least two of the instrumental workshops (see the schedule). In addition, you must attend the final rehearsal on Thursday, October 9th. Of course, you will also be attending the HONK! Parade on October 12th. You are more than welcome, but not required to, attend any of the other events the comprise HONK! throughout Columbus Day Weekend.
For the movement workshops, students need not have any experience, and are asked to wear comfortable clothing and shoes, like sneakers.
For the instrumental workshops we can provide small percussion instruments for those with little to no music experience. We can also provide a limited number of large percussion instruments. Those interested in brass, reeds, woodwinds, or large percussion instruments should bring their own or contact Ian Gendreau (Ian.Gendreau@tufts.edu) to see if he can help them borrow an instrument from the Music Department.
You can sign-up for the program electronically by downloading the sign-up sheet, filling it out in Adobe Acrobat or Reader, and E-mailing it back to amer@tufts.edu.
Space is limited, and will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. The deadline to sign up is Friday, October 3.
We look forward to honking with you!
