Q: What's the relationship between the Honk! Festival and the Honk! Parade?

A: The Honk! Festival performances are on Saturday, October 11, featuring professional bands playing in Davis Square. The Honk! Festival Parade, on the other hand, is the following day and features all the Honk! Festival Marching Bands, joined by other community groups, including the Honk! U band, all helping take back the street for bikes, horns and feet!

Q: Can I help make some noise if I don't play an instrument?

A: Yes you can! You'll need to attend two or more of the instrumental workshops led by Charlie Keil, in addition to the final rehearsal. He and his veritable army of egg shakers (and other great noisemakers) will teach you all you need to know to honk, loud and proud, in the parade! Alternatively, if you want to dance, you can march with the second line dancers. You'll need to attend one or more of the movement workshops with Alice Trexler. See the Calendar for dates of workshops rehearsals.

Q: How many workshops do I need to attend in order to march?

A: If you want to play an instrument, at least 3: two instrumental workshops, and the final rehearsal. If you want to be a second line dancer, at least 2: one movement workshop and the mandatory final rehearsal. However we do encourage you to come to as many as you can!

Q: Who can march with Honk! U.?

A: Anyone from the Tufts/Somerville/Medford community. This includes students, professors, and their friends.

Q: Where is Cohen Auditorium?

A: Cohen Auditorium is located inside the Aidekman Arts center. Click here for map

Q: What's with all the punctuation?

A: We love our punctuation. The official spelling of Honk! Fest does include an exclamation mark, the reason being that the original organizers decided that typography ought to represent the excitement and fervor that is Honk! Honk! U. continues the tradition, but adds a period at the end to signify the popular abbreviation for "University."
