| Personal Statement | Sarah Sobieraj is a specialist in media, politics, and culture who joined the department in 2005. She is currently working on a book manuscript that explores public political life during presidential campaigns, investigating the mobilization of civil society during the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections by studying the responses of voluntary associations to key campaign events (nominating conventions and televised debates). She is an award winning teacher, and her most recent publications can be found in Sociological Theory, Sociological Inquiry, The Sociological Quarterly, and Social Science Quarterly. In her free time she enjoys baking cookies, talking politics, and nurturing her love hate relationship with popular culture - purely a scholarly interest, of course. |
