Personal Statement

"I coordinate the Community Health internship program and teach courses in community-based research methods and race, ethnicity and health at Tufts University. I am currently completing my doctoral research, which examines the role of social capital and cultural intelligence in chronic disease management. Having worked as a provider and policy maker, I am interested in the how policy both directly and indirectly influences the health of individuals and
communities, and how assets can be both recognized and leveraged by communities and organizations to improve health and health care quality. My research interests include minority and immigrant health, mechanisms to alleviate health disparities, the role of culture in health care delivery, and asset-based policy and programming.
