Personal Statement

Jeanne Dillon grew up in Los Angeles, California, and earned her degrees from the University of California at Berkeley (BA '68, MA '70, PhD '80). Her doctoral dissertation was an interdisciplinary examination of nineteenth-century idyllic poetry and landscape painting. She came to Tufts in fall 1979, introducing the second film class taught here and also working with the Library Committee to begin a more active commitment to purchasing films for the collection. Her American Studies career began with a Summer Workshop in 1984 that produced Italian-American Cinema. Since then, she has taught a variety of courses on film. She is also an Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education.
