Personal Statement

"I'm interested in genetics, biology and the history of racism in the U.S. and in Europe; parallels between US immigration history and the history of introduced species of plants and animals in the US. In my home department (Biology), I am a Professor who teaches 'Organisms & Populations' (an introductory course for biology majors and pre-meds), 'Population and Community Ecology,' and 'Evolutionary Ecology.' I also do biological research on interactions of introduced species of plants with indigenous insects that find them attractive to eat—sometimes with bad results.

In addition to my current Tufts activities, I also teach peer counseling outside the university, and lead workshops on peer counseling in the context of eliminating racism and Asian/Asian American issues in the diaspora the U.S., China, U.K., Australia."
