Emerging Trends in Psychology
Behavioral, cognitive, and social scientists have made great
strides during the last decade toward understanding human behavior
and thought. Technological advancements in neurobiology, brain
imaging, genetics, and computer/human interfaces have all stimulated
the field in exciting and new ways. The outlook for continued
progress well into the 21st century is highly promising. Psychology
lies at the interface of these advances, and psychologists and
scientists from a variety of disciplines need to stay abreast of
rapid in theory and methodology. There are almost no opportunities
for interactions among scientists from different disciplines who use
different approaches and methods (e.g., behavioral assessment,
computational models, neurophysiology, neuroimaging) to examine the
same psychological phenomena, such as semantics, knowledge, or
emotion.
Our objective is to have regular three-day conferences at Tufts
University where we will bring together 10-14 national and
international prominent leaders who are using diverse approaches to
understand a cutting-edge area of Psychology. These leaders will
present talks and discuss current and research directions. Each year
highlights a different "hot" topic.
