25/03/03 -- Please join us for our latest SwirlBoston collaboration:

"What Does It Mean To Be Multiracial?" - with guest lecturer Karen Suyemoto
Wednesday, March 26th at 8:00 PM, Crane Room, Paige Hall, Tufts University
For a campus map, please visit www.tufts.edu/source/mapmedford.html.

What does it mean to be multiracial?
Racial and ethnic identity are some of the hottest topics in multicultural psychology and education that are beginning to move beyond academia and affect the way people more generally think and talk about themselves. These issues, however, are almost always discussed/theorized/explored in relation to 'monoracial' people.

How do we understand racial and ethnic identity in multiracial people? What can the experiences of multiracial people teach us about our society's understanding of race, ethnicity, and identity? More personally, how do we--as multiracials--understand ourselves in this context? What does multiraciality mean to you?

Join us for a brief talk followed by discussion with Karen Suyemoto (a Tufts graduate), a professor of Psychology and Asian American Studies at the University of Massachusetts.

Hosted by: MOST, The Multiracial Organization of Students at Tufts and SwirlBoston (www.swirlinc.org)
