Announcement for Travelers to Talloires

May 1, 2009

Dear Students and Parents,

We want to assure you that we at the Tufts European Center are monitoring the current swine flu situation very carefully. We are checking reports from both the CDC and the WHO and are in constant communication with the Tufts administration on the Medford Campus. At this time there are no CDC alerts regarding travel to France and there are no changes in the program's scheduled courses or activities.
On a practical level, we have been in touch with our local doctor here in Talloires, as well as with other medical professionals in our area who are prepared to respond should any of our students need attention. There are two regional hospitals in the area, not more than 10 miles away. Effective treatments for this flu are readily available here in France.

We encourage you to check public information announcements about healthy practices and we will continue to communicate such health-related information to the students.
The Tufts European Center staff is accessible for students, parents and French host families 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our students are fully covered and supported by International SOS medical and security service.

We will continue to monitor the situation carefully and let you know of any developments via email and via our website as soon as we know of them.

Sincerely,
Gabriella Goldstein
Director, Tufts European Center
Talloires, France
