Welcome to Broad2Be

85 Broads was originally founded in 1999 as an independent global network for current and former Goldman Sachs women professionals. (The name of the network being a humorous play on GS's HQ address which is 85 Broad St. in NYC.) In 2000, our unique "co-mentoring" initiative, Broad2Broad, was launched for current women MBA's at many of the leading business schools in the United States and Europe.

In the last 5 years, over 2,500 women have joined Broad2Broad, the graduate school chapter of 85 Broads. Following on the tremendous success of this initiative, we recently launched Broad2Be for women at some of the nation's leading undergraduate schools. Broad2Be uses the same highly successful "co-mentoring" model which is unique to the 85 Broads network.

The combined 85 Broads / Broad2Broad / Broad2Be network now has over 6,000 members worldwide, living in 150 cities and representing over 400 companies in all sectors and industries. Upon graduation, the women in Broad2Broad and Broad2Be remain members of the network for life, thus making them great mentors for the next generation of incoming women MBA's and undergrads!

Already over one hundred people are registered as members of Tufts Broad2Be, which is impressive considering that over half the 4,000 plus student body at Tufts was already registered with other student organizations when we formed.

At the 5th Annual Student Organization Awards banquet in the spring of 2005, the University recognized the great strides Tufts Broad2Be has made and honored us with several awards. Out of 25 student groups formed this year, we received the Best New Student Organization Award. In addition, out of over 140 registered student groups at Tufts, we were recognized as Best Student Organization. We are the first group to ever receive this award as a brand new organization. Our Founder was given the Legacy Award “for leadership and service that will leave a lasting impact on the Tufts Community for years to come.”

In addition to the group’s success within the University, our members have landed competitive internships at top firms such as Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Bear Stearns, DrKW and CSFB.

We would like to encourage you to join 85 Broads, a global, online network of current and former Goldman Sachs women professionals, as well as women MBA's and undergraduates from a select group of leading institutions. With over 6,000 members throughout the world, the network represents virtually every professional discipline, major industry segment, and career stage. Through 85 Broads' password-protected online network site (___www.85broads.com___), members can post their profiles and search the member database to identify career, recruiting, and philanthropic opportunities. This network is an incredible resource for women in terms of networking opportunities and overall career management. This fall we will continue to expand our co-mentoring partnership and plan to host even more events and networking opportunities. Currently, forty women alumnae from Tufts are active in the 85 Broads network. Many are recent grads who can give you "feedback from the field" regarding internships, career paths, and at they have learned since graduating!

Broad2Be members receive full 85 Broads membership privileges and maintain their membership after graduation, regardless of chosen career path. THERE ARE NO DUES OR MEMBERSHIP FEES.
